I completely agree that Alan Watts was - like Aldous Huxley - one of the main figures of the wave of psychedelic experiences that marked the 60s.

However, like Carl Gustav Jung and other remarkable men, their approach to the big mystery of life seems too intellectual to me. After you have decided there is no coincidence, life becomes a big adventure. To reach peak performance of brain waves the brain and the heart have to work together. An open heart and self-acceptance are key to experience oneness with the divine source of the universe. Then intellectual concepts like differentiation between the soul, the higher self and ego seem to bear little meaning. That's why feelings are at least as important as mental clarity. They go hand in hand and I cannot help but wonder: Did these great male minds really know the nature of universal love?
